September exports down 7.3%

The value of Hong Kong's total exports decreased to $347.7 billion in September, down 7.3% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

The value of imports fell 10.3% to $379.3 billion for the same period.

A trade deficit of $31.6 billion, or 8.3% of the value of imports, was recorded for the month.

Comparing the third quarter with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports decreased 0.4% while that of imports fell 2.1%.
