Link DetailsRail safety a top priority The safety of the Shatin to Central Link project is a top priority and any compromise on it will not be tolerated, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung says.
He made the statement today when asked about media reports on the structural safety problems found at Hung Hom Station and nearby buildings.
Mr Cheung noted it would be inappropriate to comment on individual problems with the project as there is an investigation being conducted by an independent commission of inquiry, but added any safety issues will not be tolerated.
He also said the Government and the Mass Transit Railway Corporation will follow up on such problems.
On a separate note, Mr Cheung said the Chief Executive will attend the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge?s opening ceremony on Tuesday, before it begins operation on Wednesday. |
