October exports up 14.6%


The values of Hong Kong's total exports of goods increased to $383.7 billion in October, up 14.6% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The value of imports also rose by 13.1% over a year earlier to $428.1 billion in October.

 

A trade deficit of $44.5 billion, equivalent to 10.4% of the value of imports of goods, was recorded in the month.

 

Comparing the three-month period ending October with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports increased 2%, while that of imports rose 1.4%.
