May goods exports drop 6.7%


The volume of Hong Kong's total goods exports dropped 6.7% year-on-year in May, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The volume of goods imports decreased 11% compared to the same period last year.

 

Prices of total exports of goods and imports of goods both fell 0.8% and 0.9%.

 

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of goods exports rose 5.3% in the three-month period ending May compared with the preceding three months, while the volume of goods imports increased 1.8%. 

 

Compared with the first five months of 2020 over the same period in 2019, the volume of goods exports fell 7.3%, while that of goods imports dropped 9%.

 

Prices of goods exports for the period decreased 0.8%, while those of goods imports fell 0.7%.
