May exports dip 2.4%


The value of Hong Kong's total exports decreased to $343.1 billion in May, down 2.4% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The value of imports fell 4.3% to $377.8 billion in May.

 

A trade deficit of $34.7 billion, or 9.2% of the value of imports, was recorded in the month.

 

Comparing the three-month period ending May with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports increased 6.3% while that of imports rose 6.6%.
