June exports up 3.3%


The value of Hong Kong's total exports of goods rose to $340.3 billion in June, up 3.3% compared to a year ago, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

It followed a year-on-year jump of 15.9% in May.

 

The value of imports rose 4.4% over a year earlier to $394.5 billion in June, after a year-on-year increase of 16.5% in May.

 

A trade deficit of $54.1 billion, or 13.7% of the value of imports, was recorded in June.

 

Comparing the second quarter with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports increased 1.5%, while that of imports rose 1.7%.
