July exports down 3%


The value of Hong Kong's total exports decreased to $328.5 billion in July, down 3% compared with the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The value of imports of goods dropped 3.4% to $358.3 billion year-on-year in the same month.

 

A trade deficit of $29.8 billion, or 8.3% of the value of imports, was recorded for the period.

 

Comparing the three-month period ending July with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports rose 1.7% while that of imports increased by 0.9%.
