Jordan building residents quarantined

All residents from other units of the buildings at 20, 22, 24 and 26 Reclamation Street in Jordan are required to undergo quarantine after 27 COVID-19 cases involving 13 units were recently found at nos. 20, 22 and 26.

The Centre for Health Protection made the announcement today, saying that it decided to carry out additional prudent measures on infection control to stop the potential risk of a further spread of the virus.

As the buildings at 20, 22, 24 and 26 Reclamation Street are interconnected and the communal places are shared by some residents, the Government had earlier requested the residents to undergo compulsory testing and arranged close contacts living on the same floor as the confirmed cases to be sent to quarantine centres to cut the transmission chain in the buildings and the community as soon as possible.

The Department of Health has further issued quarantine orders to asymptomatic residents from remaining units on the 1/F to 7/F of the four buildings and transferred them to quarantine centres.

Those who are symptomatic will be sent to hospital for treatment.

As at 9am, 79 residents have been sent to quarantine centres for compulsory quarantine, including the close contacts living on the same floor as the earlier confirmed cases.

Epidemiological investigations of the buildings are ongoing, the centre added.

It also reminded those who had been at 20, 22, 24 and 26 Reclamation Street for more than two hours from December 30 last year to January 12 that they must undergo a COVID-19 nucleic acid test by January 15.
