HZMB travel plan continues

Guangdong-Hong Kong cross-boundary private cars under the quotas of the Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To, Sha Tau Kok and Shenzhen Bay Port crossings can continue to use the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) for travelling between the Hong Kong Port and Zhuhai Port without additional procedures, the Transport Department (TD) announced today.

It said the arrangement has been agreed by the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments and will be extended to cover cross-boundary private cars under the quota of the Liantang Port/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point.

The two governments have implemented the first and second phases of the trial arrangement since 2019, allowing cross-boundary private cars under respective quotas and issued with valid Closed Road Permits (CRPs) for using the four crossings to use the HZMB to travel between the Hong Kong Port and Zhuhai Port without additional procedures.

These two phases of the trial arrangement will end on February 24 and April 28.

Taking into account the smooth traffic situation in the vicinity of the HZMB and to better utilise the bridge, the TD will, in accordance with the agreement between the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments, extend the arrangement upon the expiry of the two phases until further notice.

Furthermore, cross-boundary private cars under the quota of the Liantang Port/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point with a corresponding valid CRP may also use the HZMB for travelling to and from the Mainland without additional procedures from February 25 until further notice.

The department will issue notification letters to CRP holders of relevant crossings to provide the details of the arrangement.

The Guangdong and Hong Kong governments will make adjustments to the arrangement as and when necessary, taking into account factors such as the HZMB's traffic flow and the situation of the Hong Kong Port and Zhuhai Port as well as the relevant connecting roads.

The arrangement is only applicable to vehicles travelling between the Hong Kong Port and Zhuhai Port via the HZMB, the department noted.

People who wish to drive their private cars to the Macao Port via the HZMB must possess a valid HZMB private car regular quota allocation for going to or returning from Macau with valid licences or permits issued by the Hong Kong and Macau governments, or have completed registration under the HZMB Macao Port Park-and-Ride Scheme and obtained a valid permit.
