HK breaks ICT awards record


Hong Kong saw a record-breaking result at the 18th Asia Pacific Information & Communications Technology Alliance Awards today, nabbing six winner and 13 merit awards.

 

It is the biggest number of awards Hong Kong has ever won in the competition.

 

The awards were held in Guangzhou from October 10 to 13.

 

Joining 10 contesting categories, the delegation brought Hong Kong to victory with 19 awards after competing with more than 260 entries.

 

Government Chief Information Officer Victor Lam led the Hong Kong delegation comprising about 100 representatives.

 

He said the delegation?s outstanding performance demonstrated Hong Kong's strong ICT capability and rich pool of talented practitioners and students.

 

"The Government has been striving to broaden and enrich our innovation and technology talent pool. This year, 22 students as well as two representatives from a non-government organisation were sponsored to join the event."

 

The Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Computer Society also hosted a reception during the event.
