Govt to aid cinemas, sports coaches


Eligible cinemas, places of amusement and sports coaches can apply for one-off grants under the third round of the Anti-epidemic Fund from today, the Government announced.

 

The Cinemas Subsidy Scheme is open for applications until October 20.

 

Each existing cinema licensed as a place of public entertainment with commercial operation in July will be provided a one-off $50,000 subsidy per screen.The maximum subsidy for a cinema circuit is $1.5 million.

 

Meanwhile, the One-off Grant to Registered Sports Coaches Scheme will provide a $5,000 grant for each eligible registered sports coach.

 

Sports coaches registered under national sports associations or recognised sports organisations who had provided coaching services from April 1, 2019 to September 30 can apply for the grant by November 30.

 

The grant will be disbursed in batches about two months after the completed application forms and relevant documents are received by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department's Sports Funding Office.

 

The Places of Amusement Licence Holders Subsidy Scheme provides a one-off $50,000 subsidy to billiard establishments, public bowling alleys and skating rinks operating with a licence issued under the Places of Amusement Regulation.

 

Holders of a valid Places of Amusement Licence issued by the Director of Leisure & Cultural Services under the regulation on October 9 can apply for the grant by November 8.

 

The subsidies will be disbursed in batches around two weeks following the application deadline.
