Govt reports 4 COVID-19 cases


The Government said today that three of its workers tested positive for COVID-19 and an outsourced cleaning service contractor worker has preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

 

One of the infected workers is a postman at the Wan Chai Delivery Office who is responsible for mail delivery on Tai Hang Road, Fuk Kwan Avenue and Lee Kwan Avenue.

 

He last performed duties on August 1 and wore a surgical mask while working outdoors and inside the delivery office.

 

Hongkong Post will inform management offices of the postman?s infection at the buildings he delivered mail to and notify residents and commercials tenants by putting up notices in the buildings.

 

Wan Chai Delivery Office and the adjacent Wan Chai Post office will be closed from August 4 to 5 for thorough cleaning and sterilisation and mail delivery service for Happy Valley, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tai Hang, as well as 1-151 and 2-140 Electric Road of North Point will be suspended during that period.

An agency worker of the Immigration Department has also tested positive for COVID-19.

 

The officer, responsible for assisting members of the public to submit travel document applications at the Immigration West Kowloon Branch Office in Tsim Sha Tsui, last performed his duties on August 1.

 

In consideration of public health and hygiene, the West Kowloon Branch Office was closed immediately until further notice.

 

Members of the public who have urgent applications may proceed to the department's office at Immigration Tower in Wan Chai (for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passports only) or the Yuen Long Branch Office at Yuen Long Government Offices.

Also testing positive for COVID-19 is a relief security guard of the Cash Payout Scheme Secretariat?s outsourced agency.

 

He worked at the secretariat?s office in Pioneer Centre, Mong Kok and last performed duties on July 30.

 

He was arranged to undergo testing for the virus as one of his family members is a confirmed case.

 

The secretariat has suspended all counter services and interview appointments since July 20. It has been fully cleaned and sterilised in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP)?s guidelines.

 

Meanwhile, a Leisure & Cultural Services Department outsourced cleaning service contractor worker has preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

 

He worked at Peace Avenue Playground in Kowloon City and last performed his duties on July 28.

 

He had felt unwell and sought medical treatment at a hospital, and was notified that he had preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

 

All four workers wore masks during work.

 

The concerned departments will maintain close liaison with the CHP and remind their staff to pay attention to personal hygiene and seek medical advice if they feel unwell.
