Good hygiene efforts urged

Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan said the Government will boost mosquito and rodent control and urged the public to maintain good hygiene.

Speaking to the media today, Prof Chan said the Government is concerned with rodent and mosquito control, especially in the summer.

She urged people to keep a clean environment and restaurant owners to not dump rubbish in the back lanes.

?It is important that not only for the Government to increase resources and strengthen the work of the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department in terms of rodent and mosquito control, but we also appeal to the public to pay attention to their own hygiene.?

The department is using new technologies to wash streets and to keep the community clean, she added.

Prof Chan also said she meets the environmental hygiene committees of the 18 District Councils every six months to discuss hygiene issues.

?Together with all these efforts, I am sure that we can have a better and cleaner community.?
