Fee waivers to be gazetted


The extension of existing waivers or concessions of government fees and charges implemented in 2019 and the implementation of new waivers will be gazetted by the Government on September 25.

 

Twenty-nine pieces of regulation and one order to give effect to and provide legal backing for those measures will be published in the gazette.

 

The Government announced the measures on September 15 to sustain its support for businesses and relieve individuals' financial burden in view of the impact of COVID-19.

 

The majority of the measures will be valid for one year and take effect from October 1, while the remaining ones will progressively take effect at a later date upon the respective expiries of the existing one-year measures.

 

The measures will benefit a wide range of sectors from aviation, maritime, logistics, retail, catering, agriculture and fisheries, construction to tourism and entertainment.

 

The estimated revenue forgone to the Government arising from the measures amounts to $2.048 billion.

 

The proposed fee waiver by the Construction Industry Council in respect of the registration of construction workers will also be implemented in this legislative exercise and the estimated revenue forgone for the council is about $9 million.
