Edward Yau visits Wong Tai Sin

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau today visited an elderly centre and a social enterprise in Wong Tai Sin.

Mr Yau toured Rhythm Garden Lutheran Centre for the Elderly to learn about its services and facilities.

The centre provides support and outreach services for the elderly in the community and organises community activities and senior volunteer programmes.

At social enterprise Splendid Fashion, Mr Yau toured its garment studio and learned about its operation.

Operated by Lok Kwan Social Service, the enterprise provides garment manufacturing services for local designers, design students and small and medium enterprises.

It also organises courses for young designers and design students.

Mr Yau said he was pleased the enterprise provides strong support to young designers and SMEs in launching their own brands, to promote the development of locally designed and manufactured fashion.

He also learned about the opportunities and challenges faced by the local fashion trade.

Mr Yau said the Government launched the Fashion Incubation Programme in 2017 to nurture budding fashion talents and brands, and had started the preparatory work for the design and fashion project in Sham Shui Po.

He also met Wong Tai Sin District Council members.
