CE visits Marseille

Chief Executive Carrie Lam continued her visit to France in Marseille yesterday.

She met Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region Vice President Caroline Pozmentier-Sportich and listened to representatives of local enterprises about their experience in exploring Hong Kong and Asian markets as well as co-operating with Chinese enterprises.

Noting the French region and Hong Kong are both major global ports with a vibrant maritime, logistics and tourism industry, Mrs Lam said she looked forward to boosting collaboration between the two places.

She added she was pleased to see both sides attach great importance to innovation and technology development. Mrs Lam said she hoped co-operation between universities and institutes as well as collaboration in research and development will strengthen.

Mrs Lam then stopped by Airbus Helicopters to attend a ceremony to accept three new helicopters on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Flying Service.

As the Government Flying Service crew have to work in extreme weather conditions and demanding operating environments, Mrs Lam said the advanced manufacturing technology and enhanced capacity of the new helicopters will provide enormous help.

GFS regularly sends its pilots to train at Airbus Helicopters and Mrs Lam toured the venue to learn about its factory operations and flight simulation training facility.

She later attended a lunch hosted by Airbus Helicopters Chief Executive Officer Bruno Even where they discussed helicopter business development in Asia.

Mrs Lam then departed for Paris to continue her visit.
